Nicola Juan-Hofer is an English Native speaker and fully trained Helen Doron English teacher, with more than 18 years of teaching experience.
She has been teaching English in Hellmonsödt, Zwettl an der Rodl, Reichenau im Mühlkreis and Linz, to children from as young as 6 months to as old as 14 years, using the Helen Doron method, a system specially developed to teaching early English to youngsters.
When asked about teaching children who are so young, Nicola (Nicky to the children), said “It’s never too early for children to start learning another language, even before they can talk. The little ones can understand the actions and they love the songs and games. When they do start talking English is a natural part of their lives and they can learn really quickly.”
Nicky moved to the Rohrbach area from Linz in 2010 and has been working to build up her Helen Doron groups since then. “The parents who want their children to do well in English, want an English native speaker and there aren’t that many of us here. My groups are small and I try to make them fun and interesting, with songs, games and activities – I love my job and I’m looking forward to the next ten years!”
This September English teacher Nicola Juan-Hofer is celebrating 16 years of teaching with Helen Doron English.
English Native Speaker in Volksschule Schools
Working in schools presents its own challenges - larger groups have their own dynamic however I believe that children should be relaxed and enjoy the classes, having fun and speaking in a natural way in a class with a Native speaker. The best testimony to my success is the hundreds of children who have learnt English with me!
